Better Be Strong
Description
Marty Punch, guitarist and songwriter from Munich, has made more than just a statement in the rock scene with his first two self-released albums, "Moon Over Baskerville" (2014) and "Walk A Straight Line" (2020). With his debut album, Marty won the prestigious "German Rock & Pop Award" in four categories in 2015. The follow-up boasted a fantastic line-up featuring international greats such as Bruce Kulick (Kiss, Grand Funk Railroad), Frank Pané (Bonfire), Tommy Denander, JK Northrup, Sarah Straub, Carsten Enghardt, Martin Motnik (Accept), Robert Karasek, and David Cagle, as well as very mature, cleverly composed songs. Therefore, it was no wonder that this album was also very successful both nationally and internationally. The single "Better Be Strong," performed by US singer Robert Tepper ("No Easy Way Out"), also became a major hit on Spotify. Now, his third studio album, "Marty And The Bad Punch," is ready to launch. But don't let the simple title fool you. Because with his longtime friend Tommy Denander, he now has the perfect partner at his side to take things to a whole new level. Tommy not only plays guitar, but also mixed, mastered, co-produced, and played additional instruments. The songwriting was once again entirely done by Marty himself, who also produced the album. Marty recorded all his guitars in Tommy's studio in Sweden. In August 2023, the strings for the ballad and second single "Have Faith" by the Stockholm Strings (feat. Anna Dagar, Jonna Inge, and Hanna Eckström) were recorded at ABBA's legendary studio (RMV Studios). This album highlight gave everyone involved goosebumps, even during the recording process. Tommy then played the piano parts on Abba's Benny Anderson's legendary grand piano, which was also an absolutely magical moment. Both can be found in the video for "Have Faith". The Bad Punch family on the new album includes Marty and Tommy, singer Dan Byrne from Liverpool, who is considered one of the most exciting and celebrated singers in Europe, and not just because of his chart success. They are joined by bass legend Tony Franklin (The Firm, Blue Murder) and exceptional drummer Josh Devine (One Direction/Levara), a new rhythm section that meets even the highest standards. Musically, fans of the first two albums can look forward to a continuation of the path they have chosen. Melodic rock music with a slight American influence, but this time with more rock and even more guitars.
