Description
The fourth DOORS studio album "The Soft Parade" became the fourth Top 10 album in a row when it was released almost exactly 50 years ago on July 18, 1969. Although it contains one of the band's greatest hits, Touch Me, it is one of the band's most discussed albums, polarizing the fan community because of the brass and string arrangements on some tracks.
The 50th Anniversary 3 CD plus 1 LP set (180g) extends the album by almost two hours of unreleased recordings and the first release of the entire "Rock Is Dead" Jam! In addition to the remastered original studio album, it also contains the single B side Who Scared You, which was also remastered by longtime DOORS sound engineer and mixer Bruce Botnick, as well as new liner notes by renowned rock journalist David Fricke.
The heart of the new collection, however, is made up of half a dozen unreleased songs. Among the highlights are the instrumentation reduced "Doors Only" versions of five tracks, which have the brass and string arrangements removed: Tell All The People, Touch Me, Wishful Sinful, Runnin' Blue and Who Scared You. Three of the reduced versions received new guitar parts from Robby Krieger: Touch Me, Wishful Sinful and Runnin' Blue. The collection was limited to 15,000 individually numbered copies.
