Stephen Crane & Duane Sciacqua had struck creative gold in 1984 with their collaboration on the criminally overlooked "Kicks" album. Due to Irving Azoff's departure from MCA, "Kicks" was left without marketing support. They continued to write new songs and with new members Paul Daniel & Matt MacKelvie, Big Guns was formed in 1985. Musically it is reminiscent of Sammy Hagar, 38 Special and Paul Sabu's later Only Child project. Stephen Crane has a voice that hits the same rich notes as Hagar and Sabu. This is riff based, melodic hard rock with great harmonies and big, sublime atmosphere. Ultimately, no deal came to fruition and this great material has lain unreleased ever since. In recent years, "Kicks" has been re-released twice in Europe to rave reviews and received its well-deserved recognition. The search for the long forgotten tapes began.
