Beyond The Black Lost In Forever

2016, LOST IN FOREVER is the second studio album by the German symphonic metal band Beyond the Black. This is the first album to feature all six band members instead of studio and guest musicians. The band was formed in 2014 in Mannheim, Germany. It consists of vocalist Jennifer Haben (ex-Saphir), guitarists Christopher Hummels and Nils Lesser, keyboardist Michael Hauser, bassist Erwin Schmidt and drummer Tobias Derer. LOST IN FOREVER features thirteen new tracks. The songwriting is genuinely enthralling and consistent. There isn't a single weak track and most of them would make very safe singles. Every track has a more than competent guitar solo which is a huge surprise on a symphonic metal album of this kind. Most symphonic metal often falls into the trap of boring chugging rhythm guitars and plodding drums. Beyond The Black use power metal drum patterns and harmonies to inject a much needed energy and grandiosity (epicness!) into their symphonic metal sound.
