Blue Oyster Cult Fire of Unknown Origin

The 8th album by Blue Öyster Cult "Fire of Unknown Origin" from 1981 contains the Top40 hit "Burnin' for You" (#1 of the Billboard Album Rock Tracks Charts). For this work they once again brought together their successful writing team around Patti Smith and the dark fantasy author Michael Moorcock. The track "Veteran of Psychic Wars" is considered by connoisseurs to be one of the best works of the band, not least because of its length and song structure.

"Fire of Unknown Origin" was the last studio album with the original line-up before a break of seven years. In many ways it stands for the end of an era and Blue Öyster Cult had difficulties finding a firm foothold with critics and on the radio in the next few years.
