Description

On 4 May 2018, the audience of the Royal Albert Hall holds its breath for a moment: the silhouette of a woman slowly comes out of the shadows of the stage and purrs the first lines of "As Long As I Have A Song" into the microphone with her unique smoky honey-sweet voice. The spotlight follows the grammynominated singer-songwriter, who slowly makes her way through the corridors of the venerable hall in London. She shakes the outstretched hands of her fans, who do not believe in can, as is happening to them right now. She sings the song almost completely a capella. In the age of autotune and playback, the opening of a concert in such a way is almost courageous. But Beth Hart has always been an artist who balances through life without a safety net and shows herself completely naked on stage and in the studio. This claim has paid off for fans who demand "real music". During the next two hours or 23 songs Beth whispers and screams Hard her deepest hopes, fears and secrets into the ears of her audience. She transforms the concert in the huge hall into an intimate club show. While she switches between microphone, piano, guitar and bass, the concert is a fascinating review of her more than 25 years of career. Nevertheless, she constantly reacts to the changing energy of the audience: "I spent three months creating this setlist," she says, "but when I was on stage, I changed everything once again.
