Katana Heads Will Roll

2011, Sweden keeps spawning new exciting traditional Metal acts, and the newest hope for the revival of true steel is called Katana. Their debut offers lots of exciting, well played old school Metal! Hailing from Gothenburg, Katana released their first EP, HEART OF TOKYO in 2006. After some line up changed, the current line up was established in 2008. HEADS WILL WOLL marks their full length debut. ,,Livin' Without Fear" opens the album and with its melodic, catchy and intense profile immediately making an impact on the listener. Right from the start, it is very obvious that the band members are familiar with a certain band called Iron Maiden. The guitar and bass work is very Maiden-ish, as well as the structure of the song reminds me of the early period of the Brits. The musicianship and songwriting skills of the band are great! Singer Johan Bernspång is a great highpitcher as well as having that melodic approach; he can scream with anger and sing with passion equally well. An important asset for the band.
