Katana Storms Of War

2012, Katana's STORMS OF WAR reeks of that eighties metal goodness. There is nothing modern about this album, except for the release date. This sound has been emulated numerous times, but many have failed and come off as boring, due to poor songwriting; but Katana have crafted an album that will satisfy even the harshest of critics! The guitar work on STORMS OF WAR is mainly a mid-tempo attack; with overtones of speed peppered in for good measure. Besides the somewhat varied tempos, Katana have displayed a pure understanding of how to craft well sounding and catchy traditional metal riffs. Songs like ,,The Reaper" and ,,In The Land Of The Sea" showcase this well. Overall STORMS OF WAR is a worthy release, it's one that shows a competency that has truly captured the energy and sound of the classic metal sound that metal heads everywhere love oh so much.
