In 2018 it was 50 years ago that the progressive folk rock band JETHRO TULL entered the rock music stage in the United Kingdom.

Heavy Horses was released between the albums Songs From the Wood (1977) and Stormwatch (1979) and was the second part of a trilogy of JETHRO TULL folkrock albums. On both sides of the Atlantic, Heavy Horses became a top 20 album. The commercial success corresponded with the great critical praise for the melodies, the instrumentation and Anderson's typical flute playing. Especially in recent times many critics have described the album as "daring and experimental", intelligent and exciting at the same time and described it as a "will of the men who made it".
