After Third Eye Blind's successful self-titled debut album they struggled with the power of their main band members. After an isolated recording experience they released their second album Blue. It was well received by the critics because of the more experimental and harder rock sound. Hit single "Never Let You Go" peaked at number 14 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and spent three weeks at number one in Canada. The serious record is a brilliant mix of pop rock, alternative rock and post-grunge music. The combination of their poignant lyrics and a versatile sound showcase their overwhelming talent. Blue is another fine release of the late '90s.
