The American new wave band The Motels formed in Berkeley in 1975 with the song Total Control from their 1979 self-titled debut album The Motels reaching the top 10 of the Australian single charts.
With this album, the band explores the darker sides of life in Los Angeles and creates the right atmosphere through the atmospheric and artistic compositions of their rock songs. Singer Martha Davis breathes additional life into the individual pieces with her charismatic voice.
Songs like Celia or Kix certainly belong to the album highlights, but also Closets and Bullets radiates the tension and danger of Los Angeles at night. Since the founding of The Motels, the band has toured with various line-ups - the only constant is lead singer and front woman Martha Davis, who continues to rock the show stages even 40 years after the band was founded!
