Saxon Inspirations

British heavy metal legends Saxon release a brilliant covers album aptly named Inspirations. Eleven brand new tracks that deliver superb rock classics that influenced Biff Byford & his band.

Starting with the Beatles' melodic Paperback Writer and ending with Jimi Hendrix Stone Free, Saxon show their love and appreciation with their tributes, some of which are rough but always loyal to the original song. Constantly in mind was the idea of old school in which they worked with Marshall Cabs, Marshall Amps and a real drum kit. The whole thing was produced by Biff Byford with Jacky Lehmann , who accompanied and mixed the recordings. The
Approach for example to Motörhead's Bomber (with the added whistle) or even AC/DC's Problem Child , Black Sabbath's Evil Woman and Deep Purple's loud Speed King everything was recorded with refreshing warmth, unfiltered and with vintage sound reproduction.

"We wanted to record an album that showed our influences, the songs and bands that inspired us to write the very Saxon songs we wrote and still write. It was interesting to find out what else my voice could do, since I've never sung some of these songs before," adds Biff.
