Description

"Canadian thrash metal band WRECK-DEFY proudly announce their new studio album Dissecting The Leech, set for release on February 20, 2026, via Massacre Records as a CD digipak, limited vinyl LP, and digital formats. Clocking in at 48 minutes of relentless energy, razor-sharp riffs, and uncompromising attitude, the album marks a new high point for a band that continues to redefine the boundaries of modern thrash metal.

To celebrate the album announcement, WRECK-DEFY unleash their explosive new single "Apocalypse Of Hope", accompanied by an official video. The track is a powerful anthem of resistance, perseverance, and defiance in the face of tyranny. Featuring a rousing guest guitar solo by Steve Smyth (Forbidden), the song perfectly captures the essence of the band's sound: aggressive, melodic, emotionally charged, and firmly rooted in the spirit of classic thrash.

The new single "Apocalypse Of Hope" serves as the album's climactic finale--a message of strength and rebellion in seemingly hopeless situations, and a reminder that hope only dies when we abandon it.

Produced by Matt Hanchuck and Juan Urteaga at the legendary Trident Studios, and mixed and mastered by Urteaga himself, Dissecting The Leech delivers a dense and powerful sonic landscape. The album is driven by an elite lineup of metal musicians: Greg "Wags" Wagner (vocals), Matt Hanchuck (guitar), Greg Christian (bass, formerly of Testament), and David Allan (drums).

The album also features an impressive roster of guest musicians, including Chris Poland, Stu Block, Amanda Kiernan, Mike Gilbert, Nikolay Atanasov, Scott Kroeker, Freddy DeMarco, and many more.

Dissecting The Leech is an intense collection of songs confronting themes of war, trauma, corruption, personal struggle, and the oppressive forces of modern society. From the haunting reflections of "Under The Sun", through the explosive defiance of "Revolt", to the crushing emotional weight of "The Haunting Past," WRECK-DEFY craft a gripping narrative of darkness, resilience, and ultimate self-determination.

With Dissecting The Leech, WRECK-DEFY cement their place among the most authentic and ferocious forces in contemporary thrash metal--driven by conviction, experience, and a lineup that unites old-school tradition with modern energy. The apocalypse may be near, but hope resounds louder than ever."
