Vulcano Ratrace

After "Anthropophagy" (1987) and "Who Are the True" (1988), Vulcano recognized the signs of the times in the 1990s without giving up their original brutality. The result is the fifth album "Ratrace", on which the band finds a perfect balance between thrash madness and a more modern mid-tempo approach. "I was really incredulous how he managed to save this album," comments band leader Zhema on the version restored and remastered by Patrick W. Engel on the original tapes. "The vocals, the guitars and the bass - everything is finally much more defined!" And after frequent bad luck with recording studios and labels, the Brazilian extreme metal pioneers have found a capable partner in High Roller Records for the re-release of "Ratrace". The album, on which guitarist Soto Jr. (+ 2001) returned from the line-up of the groundbreaking debut "Bloody Vengeance" (1986), was to be the band's last release for 14 years, but still an impressive temporary farewell. With tracks like the two-minute barrage 'Welcome to the Army' or the similarly fast-paced 'White Violence' in contrast to more clunky pieces like 'Just a Matter of Time', "Ratrace" is a forgotten thrash gem that is worth (re)discovering!
