Description
V.A.M.P. was a hair metal band who got their start in 1986 in Salt Lake City Utah, when founding members Kurt Johnson (guitar) and his wife Joanna (keyboards) formed the band with vocalist Larry Dee. The band went through a few lineup changes as they recruited Dan Medley (drums) who had just departed the AOR band "The Take". Lastly the band brought in accomplished bassist Mark Morrison who had previously played in "The Jack" and "Vice". The band put on energetic live shows as they pumped out original anthems such as "Ready To Rock" and "Full Time Trouble". The band would record 10 studio tracks between 1989 and 1991, which included fan favorites "Telephone Love Affair" and the ballad "I Heard You Cryin'". The band got interest from Atlantic Records, but were told that they would not sign a band with the name V.A.M.P. due to already having another recording artist under the name "VAMP". The band changed their name to "Harlot" where they had a lineup change and recorded another album as the music scene changed drastically in the USA to the less melodic tuned down sound of grunge. This would be the demise of the band as they were no longer being pursued by Atlantic Records and they refused to follow the current music trend. Nearly 20 years later the band would be approached by Metallic Blue Records to reissue their albums on CD for the very first time (any other CD pressing of V.A.M.P. and Harlot is unofficial and not sanctioned by the band). The albums would be remastered and be given bonus tracks never before released. V.A.M.P. - Telephone Love Affair will appeal to fans of Kix, Flame and Babylon A.D.
