Description
When the British/American metal trio Raven left the stage of the Skråen in Aalborg, Denmark, at the end of November 2017 after a highly acclaimed concert, the brothers John (bass, vocals) and Mark Gallagher (guitar) and their newcomer Mike Heller (drums) had no idea that the show would be recorded for posterity and would be ready for further use if needed. "Of course we were surprised, because nobody had informed us about it before," says John Gallagher. "We had a USB stick with the recordings handed to us, and when we checked it, we realized that, except for minor technical problems, we had a truly magical recording in our hands. Because of the great atmosphere in the hall and our total calmness - we didn't know that the show was being recorded - the concert was almost perfect." It's the unleashed show of a band that has been writing metal history for almost 45 years.
Finally, there is the question, which is the most significant difference between the current Screaming Murder Death From Above: Live In Aalborg and earlier Raven Live records. "Of course, over the years, we've been improving technically. Also you can hear on Destroy All Monsters/Live in Japan (1996) that I suffered from laryngitis at that time. And if you compare Screaming Murder Death From Above: Live In Aalborg with the 1984 Live In The Inferno, it almost seems as if we were under sedation at the time", laughs Gallagher and sums up: "The recordings from Aalborg meet 100% of the energy currently emanating from Raven. As a live band you can't present us any better than on this disc".
"Screaming Murder Death From Above:Live In Aalborg" will be released on January 18, 2019 via SPV/Steamhammer as CD DigiPak, 2LP Gatefold
