New York metal legends PRONG are taking a victory lap with their 14th album! The New York underground--centered around the iconic punk club CBGB--has birthed many icons, but PRONG stands in a league of its own. Formed in the late eighties alongside bands like Gorilla Biscuits, Madball, Sick Of It All, and Biohazard, PRONG distinguished themselves on seminal albums such as *Beg To Differ* (1990) and *Cleansing* (1994) with a melodic sensibility that made them staples of the legendary MTV show "Headbangers Ball." Blending classic New York hardcore with infectious groove and industrial textures, PRONG laid the groundwork for numerous genres, ranging from post-hardcore, groove metal, and industrial metal to crossover thrash. Since their inception, the band has toured the globe--playing everywhere from Wacken to Brutal Assault--and now makes a triumphant return with their self-titled Napalm Records debut, *Prong*, arriving on November 6, 2026. As a definitive statement, *Prong* draws upon the wide range of influences that underpin the band's legacy. Blistering thrash elements give way to lush choruses in the opener "The Banner," before the intensity ramps up on "New Commission." "The Uprising" leans into an industrial edge, sharpening synths into weapons over a pulsating two-step beat, while "Uncertain Truth" delivers a highly melodic sound with a particularly gripping hook. Next, PRONG hits the listener hard with the impactful "Fear The Sun," evoking the raw, pit-shaking violence of classic New York hardcore. Vocalist and guitarist Tommy Victor's skills shine on "Proportionate Response"--a fiery call for retributive justice--before "Simulated Drowning" pushes the album's momentum even further.
