Orango Mohican

Even though they are still considered newcomers in this country, this is the band's eighth album by now!!! The virtuoso trio - Trond Slåke, Helge Bredeli Kanck and Hallvard Gaardløs - again presents 10 powerful tracks of blues- and folk-tinged rock with a touch of soul, whereby the three-part vocals definitely breathe the spirit of Crosby, Stills & Nash. If one didn't know about their origins, one would place them directly in California circa 1972. On 'Mohican' the trio presents ten tracks that prove they are far from running out of breath, no matter what the world throws at them.
As far as ORANGO`s releases are concerned, the new album feels particularly warm, a thread of longing running through the ten songs. Perhaps this is due to the period of transition and strangeness the band found themselves in during the songwriting process.
They had written enough songs for three more albums, but during the pandemic the band had little of each other, played no gigs, and the tour in support of the "Battles" re-release was cancelled as the release coincided with the lockdown of Norway. It felt like very dark and boring times. After some good times with writing new songs, the band felt ready to get back in where they left off. 'Mohican' is an album full of good humor, and the recording sessions were great throughout. Real band harmony!
