Among the bands ever to storm the metal genre, to take the Symphonic Olympus by assault and to cut their own path, Nightwish have come to be known as the most influential band worldwide in their genre. The idea of Nightwish was born in July 1996 at midnight when Tuomas Holopainen was spending a night with his friends around a campfire and improvised some songs that should become the band's first material.
