The 11 dynamic tracks reflect her eclectic tastes and are a unique smorgasbord of influences that transcend eras and genres.
"Songs are like tattoos" - the famous first line of Joni Mitchell's "Blue" - is a sentiment that has always played a big role for Canadian rocker Lee Aaron.
Over the course of her 18-album career, Aaron has written, recorded and produced music that has been certified gold and multi-platinum. Considered one of Canada's finest rock singers, she has also made forays into jazz, blues and even opera. For this she received numerous prizes and awards and was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2023.
"The only thing I've never done is a full covers album," says Aaron. "It seemed like a really cool and super fun project that I wanted to take on at that point..."
Aaron's long-standing band, consisting of Sean Kelly (guitar), Dave Reimer (bass) and John Cody (drums), effortlessly convey these rock giants of the 70s and 80s and seem to capture the original magic of each piece.
"Tattoo Me" is a sonic time capsule that bridges the decades. Once again, Aaron cements her status as a rock 'n' roll chameleon by combining the old with the new, proving not only that the transcendent power of music never ends, but that she herself isn't ready to let that happen any time soon do.
