Description
2004, This is documented by the Texas trio with their first concert recording "Live All Over The Place". On two CDs Ty Tabor, Doug Pinnick and Jerry Gaskill show a musical cavalcade that goes right through you. It also impressively presents the variety of the band as well as captivates the listener with authenticity.
"For this album we took the songs with the best vibes, regardless of how they were musically played", bass player Doug Pinnick explains the song list. In this respect he explicitly refers to the unaffectedness of the material on "Live All Over The Place". "These are recordings without any overdubs. Live recordings are often improved in the studios. But we wanted it to sound raw and uncouth, nothing should be brightened."
The songs on this record are coming from different periods of the band's last 15 years, up to sequences of the King's X tour last year where also an unplugged set was recorded. And the result is worthwhile: 25 great songs are to be found on "Live All Over The Place", including seven acoustic versions. The list of songs include numerous band classics, such as "Dogman", "Cigarettes", and "Believe", but also "Groove Machine", "Over My Head", "A Box", "Goldilox", and "Summerland." Plus a phantastic version of "Manic Depression" with Jeff Ament as guest on bass guitar. "Already before he was joining Pearl Jam we were close friends with Jeff. We toured with his band back in 1994. During a show in Atlanta he came onto the stage and played with us. This was real big fun."
