ALBUM INFO
According to the band itself, "Hardbeat" is their strongest release to date--in terms of production, songwriting, and musical performance alike. While this might sound a bit clichéd (as such claims are often made when promoting new records), in this instance, it is largely due to a new dynamic sparked by the arrival of new guitarist Luca Rosnau. He replaced Tom Lindemann in 2024 and fit in seamlessly, having already been part of the crew. Luca also brought fresh ideas to the songwriting for "Hardbeat"; the interplay between his contributions and the work of main songwriters and founding members Sebastian Kranke (guitar) and Tim Dammann (vocals) resulted in an incredibly diverse album.
It covers the whole spectrum: from ultra-heavy blues and upbeat shuffles to melancholic tones and high-speed rock tracks. To the band, the record feels both fresh and familiar. The proven formula remains unchanged: stripping things down to the essentials--punchy riffs and a rhythm section tighter than size XS underwear.
For the recording sessions, the band returned to the approach used for their previous album, "No Frills." Once again, the songs were recorded live together to perfectly capture HARDBONE's core strengths. The goal was for the record to sound honest and handmade, yet remain uncompromising and powerful. As with the previous release, Eike Freese played a pivotal role in shaping this sound. The band greatly values the collaboration--which was both pleasant and challenging--and the result speaks for itself!
The recording process was partly overshadowed by health issues affecting the band and their immediate circle; these circumstances ultimately played a role in naming the album. At the same time, the title reflects the record's overall sound. All in all, HARDBONE is very proud of this new work, especially given that the creative process was not always easy. After their previous release coincided with the COVID-19 lockdown and failed to reach its full potential, the band was more determined than ever to prove themselves--and that energy has now been captured and immortalized.
