Description
"Thrash metal legends EXODUS are launching into 2026 with more bite than ever! Their Napalm Records debut, Goliath, will be released on March 20, 2026, and with ten of their most diverse songs to date, it cements their eternal place at the top of the genre hierarchy. With this album, the band welcomes Rob Dukes back into their ranks - the legendary frontman (first heard on Shovel Headed Kill Machine in 2005) returned to EXODUS in 2025 after an eleven-year absence and delivers the performance of his life. Goliath is EXODUS' most collaborative work in their now four-decade-long history and features songs from several band members as well as guest appearances from Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain) and violinist Katie Jacoby. Goliath lives up to its name: The dark opener "3111" initially strikes a darkly dissonant note." Chords ring out before the breakneck thrash storm begins. As an ode to one's own instability, "Hostis Humani Generis" captivates with Duke's haunting vocals, which emerge sharp as crystal shards over frenetic riffs, before the album transitions into "The Changing Me." Its opening notes build to simultaneously menacing and melodic, goosebump-inducing rhythms, forming one of the band's most anthemic tracks with high screams and clean vocals from guest musicians Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain) and Tom Hunting, as well as harmonious dual riffs from guitar legends Gary Holt and Lee Altus. "Promise You This" ignites the mosh pit with explosive energy, storming riffs, and Holt's turbocharged solos, before the colossal title track "Goliath" slows the tempo with twisting, vicious leads, massive drums, and Katie Jacoby's ominous violin combined with complex guitar parts. The album underscores the band's increasingly dynamic approach, even after decades at the forefront of the genre. Tracks like "Beyond The Event Horizon" and "2 Minutes Hate" showcase EXODUS's signature lethal dose of thrash theatricality--the latter being one of the album's grimdest, grooviest songs. Additionally, the unmistakable metallic charm of the nineties, along with the distinctive rhythmic fury of drummer Tom Hunting and bassist Jack Gibson, shines through in tracks like "Violence Works." The nearly eight-minute epic "Summon Of The Gods Unknown" cranks the danger dial to full blast, paving the way with a bitter intro for diverse passages of plodding riffs and heavy metal melodies. The powerful closing track, "The Dirtiest Of The Dozen," gives Goliath a final manic climax: rapid-fire dueling solos, a superb bassline, outstanding drumming, and a blend of raw vocals and piercing choirs combine to create another prime example of EXODUS's ever-evolving sound.
Produced by EXODUS, mixed and mastered by Mark Lewis (Whitechapel, Nile, Undeath), Goliath exudes the explosive authenticity that has distinguished EXODUS from their contemporaries since their groundbreaking debut, Bonded By Blood (1985). Even 40 years later,EXODUS steadfastly refuse to settle for safe mediocrity. Goliath fears nothing and no one!
