Description

'Planets' is the ninth studio album, released in 1981, by the German (progressive) rockband Eloy. This concept album about the planet Salta, is the first album of a diptych with 'Time to Turn' from 1982; Initially the two albums were meant to be released together as double LP set, but finally they were released separately. Intentionally it was even to be developed into a trilogy, but that did never happen either. So the two LPs were separately released and had both a little bit of a different music style. The sound of 'Planets' typifies the transition from the 70s and 80s in progressive rock Music. It combines spacey-, synth- and heavy rock. The album is recorded in Bornemann's own Horus studio in Hannover and is the last album with the drummer and percussionist Jim McGillivray. The sound engineer is Jan Nemec. Overall it is considered to be one of the group's best albums.
