Doc Holliday Rides Again

2005, Doc Holliday - This early '80s 'Suvvern Rock' classic was initially rejected out of hand; indeed, were in not for the persistence of the band - faced with blank stares from their label plus a belief in the mainstream media that the Song Of The South was going out of tune - 'Rides Again' would not have, uh, 'Ridden Again' at all! DH might not have enjoyed the profile of a Skynyrd, a Hatchet or a .38 Special, but they were no poor relations musically, and in Southern Man & Lonesome Guitar (both featured here) they had songs in their repertoire that can still cause a grown man to crumple at the knees. Writing for Kerrang! back in 1986, 'Suvvern Rock' Supremo Xavier Russell described the genre as '...music from the heart, from the land, from the soul...', and the nine tracks on offer here are very much enshrined with that spirit...
