Description

2005, With their fourth studio album "The Dead Word", Deadsoul Tribe continue to develop their intriguing sound. Ably supported by colleague Adel Moustafa, mastermind Devon Graves - the man once known as Buddy Lackey - again proves to be the perfect creator of dark soundscapes, which fall upon on the listener with a kind of Tool influenced power. Those who listen carefully however will learn that there is much more than darkness in the music, there is a poetic air with a lot of hope and optimism in Graves' lyrics.
Most of all in regard to rhythm, "The Dead Word" is a distinct improvement on the band's previous enthusiastically received albums, "Dead Soul Tribe" (2001), "A Murder Of Crows" (2003) and "The January Tree" (2004). "This time there is a lot of percussion and many grooves clashing with Adel's polyrhythmic figures", explains Graves. Aside from front man Graves, Moustafa again joins bassist Roland Ivenz, and rhythm guitarist Rollz Kerschbaumer, in what has become a stable line-up. Last year, the band toured with label mates Threshold and left a brilliant impression every night. "It was great, I cannot remember a single weak show", recalls Graves. "When you look back you have to say that it was a perfect package. The bands are not too similar but nevertheless made the same people enthusiastic with their music".
