Black Stone Cherry Black To Blues II

In 2017 the Southern rockers Black Stone Cherry took their preference for the electric blues of the 1960s as an opportunity to release a tribute EP called "Black to Blues". On it, Black Stone interpreted Cherrysech's immortalized songs by Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Freddie King and Albert King in such a way that the guitar necks smoked and the walls wobbled. This turned out to be an artistic and commercial hit: "Black to Blues" placed in the top 30 of the British album charts and landed on top of the American Billboard Blues Charts. So it's high time for a second helping, you might think, and that's what's about to happen: On 18 October 2019 the sequel will be released: "Black To Blues, Volume 2"! stylistically and regarding the concept, the EP "Black To Blues, Volume 2" fully and completely hits its successful predecessor in the same way. Again six song classics are represented here, this time in the original by Freddie King ("Big Legged Woman"), Robert Johnson ("Me And The Devil Blues"), Otis Rush ("All Your Love (I Miss Loving")), Howlin' Wolf ("Down In The Bottom"), Elmore James ("Early One Morning") and Son House ("Death Letter Blues"). In addition to the regular Black Stone Cherry line-up with guitarists and singers Chris Robertson and Ben Wells, bassist Jon Lawhon and drummer John Fred Young, "Black To Blues, Volume 2" features Yates McKendree, the son of the well-known US keyboardist Kevin McKendree (Delbert McClinton, Brian Setzer, among others), as guest musician on the organ. Immediately before the release of "Black To Blues, Volume 2", Black Stone Cherry will be back live in Europe. From the end of August, the group will give a series of major indoor concerts together with Alice Cooper, including half a dozen performances in Germany in September.
