In the mid-nineties the Gothic Metal profession celebrated with the career highlights of TIAMAT, MOONSPELL, THERION up to the first "Female Fronted"-formations like e.g. THEATRE OF TRAGEDY and THE GATHERING, which was further developed after the turn of the millennium by acts like NIGHTWISH, WITHIN TEMPTATION or EVANESCENCE with a symphonic face. Musically impressed and influenced by both camps, drummer Mirko Montresor from Bolzano founded ALIGHT in 2005, after several years of experience with the Melodic Death/Black Metal formation VOICES OF DECAY. From the beginning there were no stylistic limits, so Montresor was not afraid to weave elements from electro, industrial and dark wave into the dreamy melodic sound of ALIGHT. The debut was released in 2009 under the title "Don't Fear The Revenge", and shone with a guest contribution by THEATRE OF TRAGEDY singer Nell Sigland. In the same year followed two tours in the pre-program of SAMSAS TRAUM and DORNENREICH as well as numerous individual shows with SOULFLY, BLACK STONE CHERRY, DARKWELL and NOVEMBRE. Although ALIGHT were on their way to the top, they threw back various line-up changes and professional obligations again and again, before a permanent line-up could be established with the current comrades Roberto Sieff (guitar, since 2011), Monica Perulli (bass, since 2013) and Catia Borgogno (vocals, since 2016), with which the drummer could complete the new song material. Now ALIGHT and their second album "Spiral Of Silence" are in the starting blocks. "We have broadened our musical horizon once again and also refined our sound thanks to the many technical possibilities," sums up Mirko Montresor. Waldemar Sorychta (MOONSPELL,TIAMAT, SAMAEL and many more) helped the Italians in the pre-production and worked with them on the compositions and arrangements. The ten jewels were finally recorded and mixed by Marco Barusso (LACUNA COIL et al.), mastered by Marco D'Agostino (LACUNA COIL et al.). As guest ALIGHT could win Andrea Ferro from her compatriots LACUNA COIL, whose contribution can be heard in "The Shame". Some string parts by Giovanni Lanfranchi (CAYNE) have also been recorded. For their first single "The Portal" ALIGHT together with Patric Ullaeus (IN FLAMES, DIMMU BORGIR and others) shot an impressive clip. "The opening scene and the ending were shot on the Red Square in Moscow, for the remaining scenes we flew to Gothenburg. The focus should be on the band performance, but also provide some information about our lyrics," reveals the ambitious drummer. The texts were influenced by the "theory of the spiral of silence" by Professor Elisabeth Noelle-Neumann and fit into the complex overall picture.
