Description

The roots of Holocaust from Edinburgh, one of the most legendary bands of the entire New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, go back to 1977 (Garry Lettice vocals), Robin Begg (bass), Nick Brockie (drums) and band leader John Mortimer (guitar) met at the tender age of 13 at high school. At first they experimented with alternative band names (Buzzard, Apollo and Preying Mantis). John Mortimer recalls: "At the end of 1978 we took things a little more seriously. The period between January and March 1979 was particularly fruitful, during this period both'Heavy Metal Mania' and'The Nightcomers' were created. I can remember very cold days with
a magical winter."

Subsequently, Paul Collins replaced Nick Brockie on drums and Ed Dudley was the second guitarist to join the band Holocaust, signed to the local label Phoenix Records, and recorded the singles "Heavy Metal Mania" and "Coming Through" in 1980 before the legendary debut album "The Nightcomers" was released in 1981.

Live (Hot Curry & Wine)" (1983) followed, including the piece "The Small Hours", which was later covered by Metallica. In the meantime, however, Ed Dudley had launched his own project Hologram. John Mortimer joined forces with drummer Steve Cowen. The result was the second LP "No Man's Land", on which Mortimer the bass and the vocals himself.

"No Man's Land" was originally released in 1984 only as vinyl via Phoenix Records and was never re-released. In a strictly limited edition, the album is now available on CD for the very first time ever via High Roller Records.
