Description

Together with Iron Maiden, Saxon, Def Leppard and Diamond Head the Tygers Of Pan Tang from Whitley Bay were among the top 5 of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. The Tygers developed from a punk band called Trick, founded in 1976 by guitarist Robb Weir. With Jess Cox on vocals, Rocky on bass and Brian Dick behind drums they found their first stable line-up in 1978. Within a short time the Tygers Of Pan Tang fought their way to the top of the NWOBHM.

Before their highly acclaimed debut album "Wild Cat" was released in 1980, the
Tygers recorded some demos. In 1986 a selection of those recordings appeared under the title "First Kill", including embryonic versions of early classics such as "Slave To Freedom", "Euthanasia" and "Don't Take Nothing", but also completely unknown plays such as "Angel", "The Final Answer" or Shakespeare Road". At that time the chapter Tygers Of Pan Tang was already over. Guitarist and band founder Robb Weir and frontman Jess Cox had launched a new project with Tyger Tyger. However, Tyger Tyger quickly ran out of steam again. On "First Kill" you will also find "Small Town Flirt", a song of this short-lived project and therefore a real rarity.

"First Kill" was originally released in 1986 by Neat Records in the UK and Roadrunner Records in Continental Europe. The album was out of print for over 30 years and is now available again on vinyl for the first time via High Roller Records.
