"Everything for Nothing", which follows the two EPs "The Eye of the World" and "Breaking Circles" on January 24th (the first single, "Clarity", for example, made it to No. 8 in the Top 5 Spotify Viral Charts), offers nine songs of tremendous density and shows how the band has developed over the past two years. Gordon and drummer Jannis Balzer, who have their roots in blues and prog rock - Gordon: "a lot of Hendrix, Clapton, Stones and Led Zep, and even with the newer stuff you hear mainly Black Keys, Chili Peppers and so on" - now meet guitarist Florian, who comes more from contemporary alternative rock (he has been listening to the Biffy Clyro mentioned at the beginning "for many years up and down") in a perfect way on these songs. As a result, Ripe & Ruin sound as beautiful as they are brute, detailed as well as direct, in your soul as well as in your face. The album was recorded in Hamburg's HOME Studios by rock producer legend Franz Plasa (Selig, Falco, Brett among others).
