OBSEQUIAE combine blackened metal with Renaissance melodies and harmonies. So they are not only far away from all methörner duds, but quite unique ! The Black Metal that's in here is more of a Greek school, for example the old ROTTING CHRIST and VARATHRON, than that of the Norsecore bands. Also, great harp passages are interspersed, which go well with melodic metal and contrast with the continuous nag singing. But the main thing about "The Palms Of Sorrowed King" is still the metal, which waves densely, sometimes rushes fast forward and is provided with a full, spatial sound.
