Description

"Fireball" from 1971 is the successor of the legendary "Deep Purple In Rock" album. It was again a worldwide success and also reached the top of the charts in Germany at that time. Nothing had changed in the line-up: Ritchie Blackmore, the string magician is on the guitar and delivers instrumental duels with the ingenious Jon Lord on keyboard or organ. Singer Ian Gillan shines again, even if in a darker, darker voice. Roger Glover on bass and Ian Paice on drums complete this legendary MKII line-up as usual.

"Fireball" marks an important milestone in Deep Purple discography, still tending strongly towards Hard Rock, but for the first time linking these mixes with more progressive elements. This can be seen especially in the title song - the first highlight of the album - but also in the following hits, the catchy accompaniment number "No No No No", the electronic intro "Demon's Eye" or "The Mule". The album is surely one of the best of Deep Purple and like its predecessor a classic of the genre. The cover shows a "comet-like" fireball with the heads of the band on a black background.
