The Arctic Monkeys explain the making of the live album as follows: "On June 7, 2018, we played a very special show at London's Royal Albert Hall. All proceeds from this memorable evening were donated to WarChild UK to support the vital work they do to protect, educate and rehabilitate children who have experienced the trauma of conflict and the horrors of war. The situation that was already dire in 2018 is now desperate and these children and their families need our help more than ever. In order for War Child UK to reduce its funding shortfall and continue its valuable work, we are delighted to be able to release a live album that was recorded that evening at the Royal Albert Hal.
