Arctic Monkeys will release their new album "The Car" on Friday, October 21, 2022. It is the seventh studio album of the band and contains ten new songs composed by Alex Turner. The album was again produced by James Ford. The recording took place at Butley Priory in Suffolk, RAK Studios in London and La Frette Studios in Paris.
Following 2018's "Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino," Arctic Monkeys find themselves in a new, lushly orchestrated musical landscape on "The Car," and Alex Turner offers some of the best and most impressive vocal performances of his career to date on the album.
Since their debut album in 2006, the band has sold over 25 million albums worldwide, reached the top of the charts in their home country six times and received numerous awards and nominations including: five Grammy nominations, seven Brit Awards, the Mercury Music Prize and an Ivor Novello Award. The appetite for the band is currently at an all time high. The band kicked off their European festival tour in August 2022 and even in Germany, where there was no festival at all, subsequently re-entered the album charts with their 2013 album "AM" and has been lingering in the album charts ever since. In Austria, "AM" returned to the charts at #41, although Arctic Monkeys had not played there either, but at the Sziget Festival in Hungary. This fifth album of the band, "AM" was the best selling/streaming Alternative Rock album in UK in 2021, although it was released in 2013!
