Description

It's the year 1898 and the Gentlemen-Club A Forest Of Stars invites you to a midnight party.
Performance of his latest crazy masterpiece "Grave Mounds And Grave Mistakes". This exclusive brotherhood lives the decadent and contradictory nature of Victorian England and combines morbid, gin blessed thought processes with bizarre, hypnotic melodies to fully express the decline of their epoch.

120 years later, in 2018, A Forest Of Stars are nothing less than one of the UK's leading avant-garde black metal bands. On "Grave Mounds And Grave Mistakes", the septet takes one of William Blake's 'proverbs of hell' as their principle - "exuberance is beauty" - and celebrates the opulent and the excess in music, lyrics and artistic design. As an exploration of their struggle with delusion, it also reflects the band's desire to return to their earlier works. This new album is a more atmospheric work than its 2015 predecessor "Beware The Sword You Cannot See", and follows on from the sound research on "A Shadowplay For Yesterdays" in 2012. We can also hear how the band, in addition to their characteristic avant-garde black metal, uses more spaciousness and tonal textures, orienting themselves to the raw sounds of the "Opportunistic Thieves Of Spring" released in 2010.

The lyrics are based on themes such as loss, death and inevitability; they describe scenes of decay and destruction - eloquent, abstract, metaphorical and with a profound message. Just like the mad inhabitant who swears to hear the heart of the dead beat, "Grave Mounds And Grave Mistakes" rolls on the floor, hits his head against the wall and screams: "Let me out." From the furious Black Metal of "Precipice Pirouette" to the last dance of the cursed in the delightfully strange "Decomposing Deity Dancehall", this album ranges from psychedelic heights down to the ocean depths of opium dreams. "Grave Mounds And Grave Mistakes" will be released on September 28, 1898* by Lupus Lounge/Prophecy as Digisleeve-CD, Gatefold-Double-LP and a handmade double-CD-Boxset limited to 500 units. The box itself features several stamps, embossing and numbering and includes the album CD, a bonus CD with two exclusive pieces, a case with four postcards and a printed "newspaper" with lyrics, credits and more
