2013, Witchgrave is a newcomer, as far as metal bands go, hailing from Växjö, Sweden with a killer new album. Their self-titled debut album is a growling mix of Doom Metal and Hard Rock, with driving riffs and some pretty cool dual guitar work. The lyrics on their debut album deal with the occult, black magic and other dreadful things - just the right stuff to go with the outfit's music, which is very much in line with the pioneers of the occult path of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal - think of Venom, Mercyful Fate, Bulldozer and add a dash of Darkthrone-ish brutishness and a great deal of ´60s/´70s horror movie aesthetics. The self-titled album contains eight songs of repulsive metal music, including mouth-watering titles like ,,The Virgin Must Die" and ,,Motorcycle Killer", with a sound that comes straight from the eighties.
