Description

The Australian dark folk/blackgaze project SULDUSK, founded by exceptional talent Emily Highfield, first attracted attention in 2019 with their debut album Lunar Falls. With this "killer debut album" (Folk N Rock), SULDUSK not only amazed listeners and the international music press, but also the rock and metal empire Napalm Records, which signed the band in 2023.

On March 1st, 2024, SULDUSK will release their second studio album entitled Anthesis and continue where they left off with their thrilling debut, but musically a whole lot more complex. Once started as a one-woman project, Highfield recruited five other musicians for Anthesis to continue the vision of an acoustic sound into an intense, powerful and hard album. Anthesis takes you into a dark, magical world that combines a whole variety of different, dark and extreme sounds into its very own sound universe. According to Highfield, Anthesis means "blossom" and is thematically about grief and acceptance. From the "Mythical Creatures" to single releases like "Crystalline" to the album title track, SULDUSK impress across the board with their very own synthesis of dark folk, blackgaze, post-rock, prog, doom and even Black metal elements and Emily's voice, which at times impresses with its gentle fragility, but in the next moment turns into demonic screams! For the first time, SULDUSK also features male vocals, contributed by Shane Mulholland. Anthesis was produced and mixed by Troy McCosker and mastered by Thomas "Plec" Johansson (Soilwork, Opeth, Katatonia). In addition, guests such as Raphael Weinroth-Browne (Leprous) and Rachelle Harvey on the cello will do the honors.

With their second album, SULDUSK have created a breathtaking and captivating masterpiece - fans of Myrkur, Oathbreaker or Chelsea Wolfe should get their money's worth here!"
