Hackett Seve & Rothery Steve The Roaring Waves

Renowned guitarists Steve Hackett and Steve Rothery are pleased to present their long-awaited collaborative album, "The Roaring Waves." It features seven instrumental tracks ranging from the skillfully absurd to the brilliantly sublime, all sharing a common theme: the depths of the ocean. Rothery explains: "In winter, during stormy weather, you could hear the roar of the waves. Whitby was a very inspiring place to live--a very poetic and powerful place to grow up. I think this album is a way to express some of those memories and emotions regarding what the sea has meant to me." "The Roaring Waves" took shape over nearly eight years, although the initial idea to record an album together had emerged three years prior to that. However, their respective day jobs and touring schedules meant they were often unable to collaborate for months at a time. Nevertheless, recording sessions at the Racket Club and in their respective home studios unleashed a wealth of creativity. "Our approach was a bit old-school--like friends meeting up in the garage to play and hang out," says Hackett regarding their creative process. For now, it remains a standalone album, as neither guitarist has the time for live performances--let alone plans to record another album together. As the tides ebb and flow, all eyes turn toward the empty horizon, waiting for one final ship to come ashore so they can finally return home. "The Roaring Waves" will be released as a limited-edition CD & Blu-ray mediabook featuring Dolby Atmos mixes by Andy Bradfield. The album will also be available in a standard CD jewel case.
