Description

Known for their dynamic mix of punk energy and soulful melodies, Soul Asylum's new album promises a rich palette of musical styles, from gritty rockers with guitar-driven firepower to tender, soulful melodies. Soul Asylum again worked with producer Steve Jordan (Rolling Stones, John Mayer, Robert Cray, Keith Richards), who had previously worked on their 1990 album "And the Horse They Rode In On," and recorded the album live at the Terrarium in Minneapolis to capture an authentic and lively sound. "He taught us the language of musicians who make music in the studio," says Pirner. "We weren't that back then. We still didn't really understand what to do and in what order." Decades later, both parties are in different places. Jordan is now the drummer for the Rolling Stones, and Soul Asylum remains one of rock's most inspiring and hard-working bands, having made its commercial breakthrough in 1992 with the double-platinum album Grave Dancers Union.
