As is widely known, Esa has been the lead guitarist of the incomparable heavy metal pioneers AMORPHIS since 1990. Thanks to the heavy yet melodic beauty of classics like "Tales from the Thousand Lakes," "Elegy" and "Skyforger," Holopainen's unique abilities to create enchanting atmospheres and innovative riffs are known worldwide in the metal scene.

"Over the past few years I've been writing a lot of music, and some of the stuff didn't sound directly like AMORPHIS. So when Nino called me at the end of March, I already had three solid SILVER LAKE songs in stock. Those tracks, titled "Sentiment," "Ray of Light" and "Promising Sun," acted as the backbone for the entire solo album," Holopainen recalls.
"I listened to see if some of my longtime friends and favorite singers would be available... Fortunately, it didn't take long to find out that outstanding artists like Anneke van Giersbergen (ex-The Gathering, VUUR), Björn 'Speed' Strid (Soilwork), Einar Solberg (Leprous) and Jonas Renkse (Katatonia) were on fire to join the project."
