Description
"Multiple Grammy Award nominee and winner SCOTT STAPP continues his triumphant return as a solo artist and releases his brand new album Higher Power via Napalm Records on March 15, 2024. As one of the most well-known voices in rock music, Stapp is ready for a big decade. He sounds just as powerful as he did 25 years ago and reveals the hardness that lies in his iconic voice"" (Loudwire). The upcoming album is the successor to 2019's The Space Between the Shadows, which, among countless other top chart positions debuted at number 3 on the US Current Rock Albums Chart, the US Current Hard Music Albums Chart and the UK Official Rock and Metal Charts.
Higher Power consists of 10 unforgettable tracks - including absolute radio anthems, soulful ballads, absolute metal bangers and heavy rock hits - and impresses with brilliance and fervent energy throughout. Topics such as loss, frustration, betrayal and near defeat are discussed. In addition to SCOTT STAPP's distinctive vocals and outstanding songwriting skills, Higher Power features captivating performances from hard rock queen Dorothy, award-winning guitar virtuoso Yiannis Papadopoulos and a song co-written by multiple Grammy award-winning songwriter and musician Steve McEwan. Higher Power was produced by Marti Frederiksen and Scott Stevens, with Stapp himself serving as co-producer.
SCOTT STAPP's trademark, introspective and observational songwriting, is particularly evident in the two hope-giving songs on the album, the opener and title track, as well as the first single "Higher Power", which impresses with fat, grooving riffs and an epic chorus, as well as the contemplative album closer "Weight Of The World"". In between, the listener is guided through themes such as trial and error, discovery and revelation. Tracks like the stormy yet melodic ""Deadman's Trigger"", the soulful and hypnotizing ""When Love Is Not Enough"" and the gripping, anthemic ""Black Butterfly"" offer outstanding riffs and represent the metallic passages of the album. Tracks like "What I Deserve", "Quicksand" and "Dancing In The Rain" shine with fast-paced and sophisticated leads and solos by guitar genius Yiannis Papadopoulos. The acoustic ballad ""If These Walls Could Talk"" unites Stapp with the celebrated rock singer Dorothy for an emotional duet. The later "You're Not Alone," co-written with legendary songwriter Steve McEwan, is both an affirmation of faith and the realization that one can learn to survive alone without feeling alone.
Higher Power is a guide to discovering and deepening one's faith, conviction and dependence on a power greater than oneself. The album processes Stapp's own experiences on a knife's edge with the realization that no one goes through this life alone while continuing SCOTT STAPP's strong new era."
