Samael fronter Vorphalack announced well before the release of their new work LEX MUNDI, that the band would go back to their roots and deliver a genuine Metal opus. What he didn't tell us, though, is that this is the most brutal, fastest and most extreme Samael album so far. The opener ,,Luxferre" blows you away, leaving you devastated, and you feel reminded of milestones such as CEREMONY OF OPPOSITES and PASSAGE - LEX MUNDI being the acme of all these . Keyboards are used rarely, but effectively and make for the adequate chills, while Vorphalack's voice drenches the ten terrific tracks with satanic fervour: the whole time, you'll feel like you're in purgatory. LEX MUNDI is - apart from the mentioned classics - the best Samael release ever.
