Description
2023 was the year of the art rockers from RPWL: "Crime Scene", the eleventh studio album and the nineteenth overall, entered various charts after its release: it even reached a remarkable 18th place in the German album charts! This was followed by a fantastic long European tour through eight countries with many sold-out halls.
On the last studio long player "Crime Scene", the Bavarian art rock institution drew its attention to the morbid, the perverse, the evil in the good, the depths of the spectrum of human behavior in all its unpredictable diversity, which sometimes comes across in such a bizarrely disturbing way , if you start to want to explore them.
Conceptually, "Crime Scene" logically played the central role in the live shows. The entire album was performed - of course also a few extra songs from a band's history that goes back to 1997 - accompanied by a harmonious light show with video clips designed for the respective songs. You could tell how much fun the band had with both the concept and the implementation on stage. "With RPWL, the live versions are often different than in the studio, many parts are much more extended, and there is often live jamming." explains guitarist Kalle Wallner.
The outstanding performance was filmed in the Netherlands: "The Poppodium Boerderij in Zoetermeer was the perfect place - great stage, great lighting, basically the Dutch prog temple. We have been playing concerts there regularly for over twenty years and have had a long and very friendly relationship Attachment to the venue and the crew." says singer Yogi Lang.
The band around the two remaining founding members Yogi Lang and Kalle Wallner had, so to speak, completely renewed itself in 2022: Even before the production of Crime Scene, bassist Markus Grützner joined the band and forms a rhythm section at the highest level with drummer Marc Turiaux. Keyboardist Butsch Keys and the two singers Caroline von Brünken and Carmen Tannich completed the live line-up. The energy and homogeneity that the seven-member band radiated live was overwhelming - a true firework display of emotionality and musical perfection!
Even after so many years, RPWL doesn't show any signs of tiredness - on the contrary: the fans can look forward to a recording full of joy and an excellent performance. One can confidently say: These are the best RPWL of all time!
There are twelve songs on "True Live Crime" and it will be released on April 12, 2024 on Blu-ray with Dolby Atmos surround sound, as a double vinyl and double CD. It is the band's twentieth album overall.
