Description
Rock Boulevard was a hard rock/glam metal band from Nevada that was formed in 1985. They started out as Rock Blvd but changed it to Rock Boulevard. They practice several times a week and won the 1986 Reno Battle Of The Bands competition but at the same time they were offered a promoter in Ohio. The band decided to leave Reno even if it that meant they would lose the momentum that just had turned up in hope to get more exposure through a professional promoter. In Ohio they managed to play clubs 4-6 times a week and even gained notoriety for playing on the rooftop across the street from the areas top strip club. In 1987 the band signed to Fraternity Records and entered the studio to record their debut album. Two tracks, One Time Lover and Y R U Lyin, were released as a single to gain more exposure but unfortunately the album was never released and would remain unreleased for several years. The band continued to play in Ohio for a couple of months before deciding that it was time to move back to Reno. Back in Reno the band recorded a 3-track demo with their new line-up. The demo included a re-recorded version of How Many Times as well as You Left Me Cryin and Self-Sacrifice. In 1989 the band opened for Helstar and Intruder as a trio without skipping a beat. The band was rehearsing six days a week at Showcase Rehearsal Studio in Reno, Nevada. On a Sunday evening, they caught the attention of well-known lead singer Marc Grover, who was on the lookout for a new band after fronting the recently disbanded and highly acclaimed hard rock band Rawkon. Marc was impressed with the band's work ethic. He was looking for guys who shared his same drive to land a major record contract. Marc's creativity and determination helped Rock Boulevard to elevate tot he next level. They wrote several new songs and grew in popularity as a live act. They entered the 1990 version of Battle Of The Band in Reno and won and was awarded with six hours of studio time. The guys were able to pull together an additional five thousand dollars to record more songs to get a full length album out. The end result was a self titled album released on Tri Records in 1990 in a limited run of 250 copies on cd and 250 copies on cassette. The album received many positive reviews and gained a lot of radio play. And just a few weeks later the band entered the studio again to record the fight song Lets Go Wolfin for the University of Nevadas football team the Wolf Pack, a track that was released on cassette only. The band then dissolved and their 1990 self titled cd album on Tri Records has become one of the top ten best independently released hard rock albums of all time and have sold for more than one thousand dollars on several occasions. December of 2020 saw the release of two Rock Boulevard albums. I Got What You Want features the self titled album from 1990 as well as the Lets Go Wolfin cassette single while Stand And Fight features the single and unreleased album from 1987 as well as the 3-track demo from 1990.
