Robin Trower's new studio album 'Joyful Sky' is confirmation of his latest artistic instincts: the 78-year-old has always been receptive to singers who could enhance his emotive guitar work. The smoky power of acclaimed New York singer Sari Schorr led him to recreate his songcraft around her. "I've worked with some great singers over the years, but Sari is dynamite, just an absolute banger," says Trower. "This album really pushed me to write in different keys and arrange songs for her voice. I went more towards R&B this time because I knew she would be great with that note. But the blues is still there underlies everything I do - and there are definitely elements of my '70s stuff in this new album."
