Description

It is almost impossible to overestimate the importance of riot for the evolution of American heavy metal. The New Yorkers form the bridge between the first generation of American hard rock and metal bands from the early to mid-1970s (Blue Öyster Cult, Kiss and Van Halen) and the new wave from the late 1970s/early 1980s (led by Canadian proto-speed metals Anvil and Exciter).

Riot were founded in 1975 in New York City and recorded "Fire Down Under" (released 1981), one of the most important metal records of all time. However, it had taken five years and two studio albums ("Rock City" from 1977 and "Narita" from 1979) before Riot's success formula

Band founder and main songwriter Mark Reale (died on January 25, 2012) the two
Riot protagonists among us any more.

"Riot Archives Vol.1" contains (including alternative mixes) no less than 18 unreleased demo or studio recordings, including tracks like "Sweet Sweet Sweet Felicia", "In Every Way", "Come Back To Me" and "I'm A Marshall°.
