Description

When the late Rhett Forrester left the New York band Riot after the acclaimed 1983 album "Born In America," it wasn't long before he launched a solo career that culminated in two studio albums: "Gone With The Wind" (1984 ) and "Even The Score" (1988). On January 22, 1994, the legendary singer was shot and killed in Atlanta, Georgia at the age of 37. The "Sessions" compilation brings together a number of different projects that Rhett Forrester has been involved in over the course of his all-too-short but nonetheless impressive career. Most of these recordings have been forgotten in comparison to Rhett Forrester's better known releases, be it with the legendary band Riot, Jack Starr's first solo album "Out Of The Darkness" or Rhett's own solo output. First up are the "Dirty Water Sessions", which were first heard on the long-out-of-print compilation album "Hell Or Highwater" and were recorded in Texas with guitarist and co-writer Jonathan Grell, who used to play with the band Winterkat. These songs are the very last recordings Rhett made before his untimely death. Next up is the Dogbone project, a band Rhett formed with former Keel members Brian Jay and Dwain Miller. These recordings were semi-officially released on a limited basis in the mid-1990s, but have remained largely unheard to this day. "Sessions" also contains the only track from the "Thrasher" project album with Rhett. This track was produced by Andrew Duck McDonald and Carl Canedy and was also featured on the "Hell Or Highwater" compilation. The conclusion of this release is the demos for Dr. Dirty, known as "The Clear Lake Sessions". These recordings formed the basis for the complete Dr. Dirty recordings featured on the High Roller Records release "Rhett Forrester - The Canadian Years".
