'Private Life' was an AOR band featuring former members of Rod Stewart, Axis, and Badfinger with singer Kelly Breznik. Private Life's music was very slick, keyboard-based AOR sounding like a cross between late-80's 'Heart' (musically) and 'Vixen' (vocally). This 2-on-1 collection features both band's albums - 1989's "Shadows" and 1990's "Private Life" - in their entirety - 19 ready-for-radio songs, including a nice cover of Van Morrison's "Domino" and a very serene (and unexpected) rendition of "Amazing Grace." The first 10 tracks are from the excellent "Shadows" album and are very good Melodic rock. The second half is from the follow up album "Private Life". Eddie Van Halen's production is slick and impressive. It seems they were trying to go for more of a hard rock approach on the second cd which lacks focus and the melodic keyboard driven flair of the first batch of songs.
