With Hate For Sale the legendary Pretenders release their brand new studio album via BMG. Hate For Sale is the first album that the formation has recorded in their tour line-up, which has proven itself over many years. Hate For Sale is the Pretenders' 11th studio album and was produced by Stephen Street ( The Smiths, Blur ). For the first time, all songs were written by Chrissie Hynde and guitarist James Walbourne. I wanted to write with him right from the start, but our schedules just didn't allow it, Chrissie continues. James is in great demand and has recorded with Jerry Lee Lewis, Dave Gahan and The Rails, to name but a few. We had originally planned to write on tour. But as anyone who plays in a band can confirm, that is almost impossible. Being on tour is a procrastinator's paradise'.
With the 2016 predecessor Alone, highly acclaimed by fans and critics alike, the Pretenders celebrated their return eight years after the album Break Up The Concrete. In June 2019, the band appeared as support act for Fleetwood Mac at British stadiums, including two shows at London's Wembley Stadium.
